Background research work on the following: -
Hydroelectric schemes; it is vital that clubs monitor developments in their area. Whilst the Federation are not opposed to all hydroelectric schemes, it is apparent that Licence conditions being applied by NIEA will not be sufficient to protect rivers, and need to be improved.
The issue of illegal netting on Lough Neagh has been the subject of considerable effort by the Federation and this work continues.
NOTICE FOR CLUB SECRETARIES
Poaching
Please ensure any potential poaching issues or information is forwarded to the Federation Development Officer as set out in the forms re-issued in July 11.
Private Water Bailiffs
It has come to the attention of the Federation that the court service are applying the charge of £100 for the appointment or renewal of Private Water Bailiffs. These charges are in line with the guidelines, however in the interim clubs should make one application for all renewals and appointments in this way clubs will then only be charged the one fee. The Federation are currently in discussions with the various authorities to try and resolve the issue.
Slurry Spreading
Despite the recent press statements there is still a closed period for spreading slurry. All anglers please note the closed period for the spreading of dirty water and slurry is from 16th October until 31st January 2013. If you witness any slurry spreading taking place during this period ensure it is reported on the following telephone number 0800/807060.
Visit by Development Officer
As in previous years I am willing to attend either a Committee Meeting or the club AGM. To discuss either the work of the Federation or hear members concerns. Please let me know well in advance and I will try to attend.
