The following meetings were attended;

2nd Lisburn,  Chairman and other directors attended monthly Directors meeting.

2nd Belfast, Chairman attended meeting with NIEA Natural Heritage regarding the application of the Habitats Directive, for example to enhancement work on the River Roe, and hydroelectricity.

7th Tildarg,  Attended the open day at Tildarg Fishery.

14th Portadown,  Chairman, along with Directors Allan Kilgore and Gary Houston attended a meeting of the DCAL Salmon and Inland Fisheries Forum, mainly to discuss the proposed new salmon conservation regulations.

29th Belfast,  Interviewed on Good Morning Ulster about the lack of progress in the implementation of new byelaws for Lough Erne.

30th Clady,  Meeting with NIEA, DCAL and Clady club to discuss the outstanding issues re the hydroelectricity plant  at Clarkes Factory at Upperlands.

Correspondence / E-mails

E-mail to Inler Club about the forthcoming AMI course.

Further letter to John Martin CEO of Waterways Ireland about the outstanding Lough Erne bye-laws.

Further letter to Diane Dodds MEP about the protection of the Atlantic Salmon in NI waters.

Further e-mail to Coastguard about the lack of action over the implementation of the Lough Erne bye-laws.

E-mail to Seamus Connor of DCAL to see about the possibility of using their weed cutter machine.

Background research work on the following: -

Hydroelectric schemes; it is vital that clubs monitor developments in their area. Whilst the Federation are not opposed to all hydroelectric schemes, it is apparent that Licence conditions being applied by NIEA will not be sufficient to protect rivers, and need to be improved.

Poaching

Please ensure any potential poaching issues or information is forwarded to the Federation Development Officer as set out in the forms re-issued in July 11.

Private Water Bailiffs

It has come to the attention of the Federation that the court service are applying the charge of £100 for the appointment or renewal of Private Water Bailiffs. These charges are in line with the guidelines, however in the interim clubs should make one application for all renewals and appointments in this way clubs may only be charged the one fee. The Federation are still in discussions with the various authorities to try and resolve the issue.
