Notice re: Dollaghan Trust meeting

Background research work on the following: -

Hydroelectric schemes; it is vital that clubs monitor developments in their area. Whilst the Federation are not opposed to all hydroelectric schemes, it is apparent that Licence conditions being applied by NIEA will not be sufficient to protect rivers, and need to be improved.

Efforts are continuing to end all salmon sea netting in the old FCBNI area, and in the Foyle area.
The Federation continue to press NIEA for an improvement to their Water Framework Directive
proposals to protect water quality in NI.
The issue of illegal netting on Lough Neagh has been the subject of considerable effort by the Federation and this work continues.
NOTICE FOR CLUB SECRETARIES

Poaching
Please ensure any potential poaching issues or information is forwarded to the Federation Development Officer as set out in the forms re-issued in July 11.

Private Water Bailiffs
It has come to the attention of the Federation that the court service are applying the charge of £100 for the appointment or renewal of Private Water Bailiffs. These charges are in line with the guidelines, however in the interim clubs should make one application for all renewals and appointments in this way clubs will then only be charged the one fee. The Federation are currently in discussions with the various authorities to try and resolve the issue.

Annual Maintenance
Rivers Agency has produced their annual maintenance programme for 2012/13. This is available to view on their website at: http://www.dardni.gov.uk/riversagency/index/flood-defence/rivers-agency-annual-watercourse-maintenance-programme.htm Each club should check to see if they will be effected. Cds containing the list of proposed works and the environmental scoping can be provided on request from Rivers Agency.

Catchment Stakeholder Group (CSG) Meetings
The next round of Water Framework Directive Catchment Stakeholder Group meetings are scheduled for October and November: please ensure your club is well represented at these meetings. This is your chance to raise local issues with the Catchment Officer regarding pollution and any matter affecting water or habitat quality. All the meetings start at 7.00 pm. The following are the dates and venues;

02/10/12 Strangford & Lecale @ Down County Museum, Downpatrick.
09/10/12 Upper Neagh Bann @ Old Town Hall, Banbridge.
10/10/12 Bush & Glens @ Glenlough Community Centre, Carnlough.
16/10/12 Lower Neagh Bann @ Randalstown Arches Community Centre,
              Main Street , Randalstown.
23/10/12 Carlingford & Mourne @ Ballybot House, Newry.
